2013-11-25 Grinding wheel side wobble. As grinding wheels get used, and with age, they will go out of round. Install a new grinding wheel first to see if this solves your problem. Check the expiry date on the grinding wheel. Grinding wheels can fly apart during operation from fatigue, causing serious hard. To install a new grinding wheel, remove the lock nut with the wrench.

Re: Grinding wheel wobble Grinding wheels never come concentric perfectly and or weight difference in the build up of the grinding wheel material will throw it out a balance. The best way to balance the wheel on a pedestal grinder is buy at Princess auto or Canadian tire diamond grinding wheel dresser.

Re: Grinding wheel wobble Yes, inspect the wheel and grinder. If there is a problem I would suspect the mounting more than the wheel because the brittle wheel would likely break rather then warp to cause a wobble. Things shouldn't just change quickly.

In theory, the depression on one side of the nut should overlap the raised area on the flanged washer. But who's to say what's what if a lawyer got involved.

2012-7-27 The wheel needs to be trued & the brake pads need to be aligned. If you've never trued up a wheel before, two words of advice...bicycle shop. Not a job for the novice. Couple of links down below. Not unusual for a new bike out of the box to need around $30 to maybe even $50 worth of work. Especially a discount store bicycle. Sorry for the bad news.

2016-7-6 If you can, help yourself by jacking up one wheel at a time and then spin it with something such as a small grinding stone or a wire brush wheel in the chuck of a drill motor applied to the tire tread. A helper could run the drill motor for you. Then compare the passing tire tread with the ground or pavement underneath.
